New Shed 5 Opens

Shed 5 has been closed for a few months now, the victim of the collapse of the Rhubarb Lane Development due to the Global Financial Crisis and the fact that for most people in New Zealand, spare money isn't that easy to get anymore.

Since no-one else was ready to start redeveloping the old sheds in Wellesley Street, Doug managed to broker a good deal to restart Shed 5 with a focus on providing new and second hand motorcycle parts to support the local custom builders. The old space has been cut in half so only the right side with the cafe is going to be used now. The shelves are starting to be stacked with parts and the cafe is slowly coming back to life. Doug has put the Dyno in the old workshop so people can watch their bikes being thrashed while they sip their coffee in comfort.

Just to kick things off there will be another Webb's Auction of old bikes and cars plus a few boxes of old bikes parts thrown in for good measure. The preview is on this week with the auction from 2pm next Saturday. We went down for a quick look this weekend and the place seems to have a really good vibe. Closing down the space makes it more focused and alive. Definitely interested to see how the parts business goes over the next few months now that we're getting back intro  building season.

Busy next weekend. The Beach Hop with all the usual Classic Cars and Hot Rods, Rock and Roll and Vintage Surfing. The the Scroungers Hot Rod Blow Out just down the road from my place, plus the auction where we might just bid for some of those junk parts. More garden features for the new house.
Also I'm still waiting for anyone to show some interest in buying my Thruxton and Springer so I can get some money to start on the rebuild of my Vlad to Paris Triumph. Hopefully there's someone with spare money and a need for a cool bike or two............
BTW. Sara apologises for the iPhone photos. I forgot the camera.

Dead Bike Weekend

Pete's Heritage developed some serious noises trying to keep up with the cortege at Greg's funeral so he dropped it off at my place on the way to the wake. We pulled the primary on Sunday but couldn't find the problem. Sounds expensive. I did manage to rip the motor out of Tiddles and have it spread across the bench. Looking pretty good apart from a couple of little welding jobs that need done. The boys down at York Street are going to sort those out next week.

Also....we have a slight change to the V2P run. It was going to be too expensive to ship the bikes back to New Zealand from Paris so the run is now going to end in London. I wonder would they make it all the way to Belfast?
